Yang Lu is currently the Group Wine Director of Shangri-La Hotels, responsible for coordinating and managing the wine projects and sommelier teams of the 100 hotels throughout the group. Previously, Yang Lu served as a sommelier at the Peninsula Shanghai. During his three years in office, he continued to enhance the status of local sommeliers in the international catering and wine industry.

Yang Lu studied physics at the University of Toronto and later transferred to Niagara College. He graduated from the grape growing and winemaking specialty in 2007 and became the first Chinese sommelier to receive international certification in the same year. In 2011, Yang Lu successfully obtained the Diploma of the British Wine and Spirits Education Foundation (WSET) and was awarded the WSET German Wine Scholarship for his outstanding performance in the world. Yang Lu, the first Chinese to receive the Madame Bollinger Award and Scholarship, became the first mainland Chinese student to take the Master of Wine course in the following year.

Yang Lu won the Best Sommelier Greater China Competition in 2014 and won the title of China's three major sommelier competitions-the 2008 Penfolds China Sommelier Competition, China National Sommelier Competition in 2010 and china's Best Sommelier of French Wines in the same year.

Yang Lu is not only a leading figure in the global sommelier industry, but also a cultivator for cultivating talents in the wine industry. He is the founder of the Granea Institute which is a potential wine education service, with a team of lecturers from the company, regularly teaching WSET, official production areas, sommeliers and other courses, as well as organizing hundreds of annual tasting events. Yang Lu is one of the best wine lecturers in China. Over the years, thousands of people in the industry have been his students, including sommeliers,journalists,lecturers,etc.

Yang Lu has received internationally renowned media interviews such as CNN, Wall Street Journal, South China Morning Post and CCTV. He is also a columnist for DecanterChina.com and many professional and fashion magazines. He translated the famous British wine critics Jancis Robinson's "How to Taste" into Chinese and participated in the translation of "World Atlas of Wine".Both books quickly became the best sellers in China. In addition,Yang Lu was invited as a speaker at the International Wine Conference and Forum from time to time, and participated in various local and international wine competitions as a senior judge. He is also the Chief Technical Officer of the China Blind Tasting Competition, responsible for wine selection and service arrangements.

He became "Wine Magazine" "Power List 2011"in 2011 and was named "China Wine Ambassador" by Hurun Report in the following year. After two years, he was awarded the "Young Hope" by the French government and Sopetxa.
