Mr. Lu is the only Chinese Master Sommelier in the world. Known as the most important and influential sommelier in greater China, he is also one of the most respected figures in the wine industry.

    Yang Lu is currently the Group Wine Director of Shangri-La Hotels, responsible for coordinating and managing the wine projects and sommelier teams of the 100 hotels throughout the group. Previously, Yang Lu served as a sommelier at the Peninsula Shanghai. During his three years in office, he continued to enhance the status of local sommeliers in the international catering and wine industry.

    Yang Lu studied physics at the University of Toronto and later transferred to Niagara College. He graduated from the grape growing and winemaking specialty in 2007 and became the first Chinese sommelier to receive international certification in the same year. In 2011, Yang Lu successfully obtained the Diploma of the British Wine and Spirits Education Foundation (WSET) and was awarded the WSET German Wine Scholarship for his outstanding performance in the world. Yang Lu, the first Chinese to receive the Madame Bollinger Award and Scholarship, became the first mainland Chinese student to take the Master of Wine course in the following year.
